FlotLife Dewatering System (FDS) is an innovative multi-disc screw press for wastewater sludge dewatering. FDS reduces sludge in weight and volume by separating it into liquid and solid components.

FDS is structured with a filter element that consists of two types of rings: fixed ring and moving ring, and a screw that thrusts the filter element and transfers and pressurizes the sludge.

The gaps between the rings and the screw pitch are designed to gradually get narrower towards the direction of the sludge cake oulet and the inner pressure of the filter element increases due to the volume compression effect, which thickens and dewaters the sludge.

Sludge conditioning tank

Before dewatering, the sludge is temporarily stored in a conditioning tank.

Flow control tank

Overflow pipe regulates sludge feed to the device. Excess sludge is returned to the conditioning tank.

Flocculation tank

In the flocculation tank sludge is mixed with flocculant which enables dissolved particles to aggregate in large flocs.

Thickening and dewatering cylinder

A screw mechanism pushes sludge through moving rings of the thickening zone (where sludge is thickened) and the dewatering zone (where thickened sludge is dewatered).

Discharge outlet

The end plate applies the final pressure to the sludge, and the dewatered cake is discharged.

The operation of FlotLife’s FDS system can be fully automated, with its performance controlled by the control cabinet which allows both on-site and remote access for system monitoring and configuration. The automation system is based on open architecture and SIEMENS SIMATIC WinCC technology. The operator interface is on a touch screen - simple and intuitive to understand.
